Wizard’s Vault and Astral Acclaim

You’ve hit level 80 with one of your chars, and have unlocked the Wizard’s Vault. You open the panel left of the trading post, and there are a lot of things going on. So what is it, and what to do with it?

Dailies, Weeklies, and Seasonal Objectives

The Wizard’s Vault objectives have three tabs; Daily, Weekly, and Season.

Least obvious of those are the seasonal objectives. Whenever a new expansion is released, or new content for an older expansion is released, or even when a festival is on, this has an objective. In general these award larger amounts of points, but are only once-per-season objectives. If you don’t have the latest expansion you may not be able to complete some of these, but that’s fine; no FOMO, all this means is your progress is a bit slower. Strictly speaking all of this is optional and you aren’t really missing out.

Weeklies and Dailies on the other hand are regular and generated from a list. This list is split into three separate sublists so to say, one each for PvE, WvW, and PvP. You can choose your preference using the cog icon in the top left of the panel. Your preference will determine from which lists your dailies and weeklies are chosen on the next daily/weekly reset.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • it is better to choose objectives for something you end up doing so you don’t have to go out of your way
  • you can choose multiple categories, if you run PvE and WvW but not PvP, you can choose both PvE and WvW to get mixed objectives
  • PvE objectives are often spread far across Tyria
    • this may include content you do not have; e.g. fishing
  • PvP objectives tend to be the fastest to complete, so if you like PvP those are a good choice
  • both WvW and PvP dailies give reward track progress1
    • PvE has no equivalent for this
  • weekly chests yield a small amount of laurels which among other things can be used to buy T6 crafting materials

Astral Acclaim

When finishing any of the objectives you will receive Astral Acclaim. This is a currency with an upper bound, so make sure to spend them before hitting the limit. You can spend this on several things:

  • the current and legacy cosmetics (such as skins or chairs)
  • per-season limited rewards
  • unlimited rewards

Of note here is that the per-season limited rewards refresh once per season, meaning it is highly recommended to buy those before the season ends.

What to buy?

The simple answer: whatever you want or need.

An opinionated list of important things to get are:

  • the legendary weapon starter kit
  • ascended gear
  • mystic clovers
  • mystic coins

Each of those are either very hard to farm, or time gated to begin with. Using your astral acclaim on those can save you a lot of trouble down the line. However, first and foremost get what you need and want. Something being hard to get just means it’s hard to get, not that you ultimately need to get it. You can also go for the skins or emotes first if those are more important to you.

  1. Reward track progress via dailies has a caveat in that you get the progress when you collect the final daily chest. If you have not completed a WvW or PvP objectives when you redeem that chest, those are lost reward progress points.
